Our Services
Traditional engineering is at the heart of everything we do
Surviving aircraft from the First and Second World War present a unique engineering challenge due to the gradual loss of the tooling and specialist skills required to build and maintain these machines in the decades following the war.
At Retrotec, we are dedicated to rediscovering these lost engineering techniques and combining them with modern safety benchmarks and state of the art CNC machining, to deliver the highest standards of authenticity and craftsmanship in our restoration and rebuilds.
All our work is underpinned by three core principles
Authenticity
Our unique range of tooling and extensive technical archive allows us to produce work of unparalleled authenticity
Excellence
All our work is undertaken to the highest quality and is subject to the rigorous scrutiny of our engineering inspection department, ensuring we deliver excellence on every project.
Innovation
Retrotec is renowned for our ability to solve technical challenges where other companies have failed, and specialises in prototyping and taking on challenges deemed impossible.
It is always cheaper to do the job right first time.
Retrotec has gained a world-wide reputation for undertaking engineering challenges long thought impossible to replicate, including complex wing spars for Hawker biplanes and Hurricanes and more recently B-17 spars – few of which would be flying today without Retrotec’s work.
We can undertake design work, all sheet metal work, engine rebuilds, woodwork and machining, along with many other specialist crafts required for vintage aircraft restoration including but not limited to:
